NYC AC Problems and Solutions

Updated: Nov 19, 2021

Short post, because it's almost 3:00 AM and I'm tired...or should be. We have a wall unit AC in our apartment, not uncommon in NYC, but a pain none-the-less due to the lack of automatic control settings. You have to walk up to it and turn the knob when you're too cold or too hot. First world problems here but I had to find a solution so I built one using a servo, an Arduino, a temperature sensor, 3D printed gears, and some custom code in C++.

Basically once it hits a certain temp-- the servo turns and the custom 3d printed gears flip the switch on or off. One small step for man....
